Qualification & Training

Energy storage
experts of the future
.

Skilled scientists and engineers are key for future development and implementation of electrochemical energy storage. Within CELEST, comprehensive teaching and support infrastructure to ECRs in this field is offered by two institutions: The Electrochemical Energy Storage Academy (EES Academy) and the Research Training Group Simulation of mechanical-electrical-thermal processes in Li-ion batteries (SiMET).

Academy and Research Training Group

Electrochemical Energy Storage Academy (EES Academy)

The Electrochemical Energy Storage Academy (EES Academy) offers tailor made events and programs in various fields of electrochemical energy science and career development, from the doctoral to early faculty level. A central part of the EES Academy is the Graduate School GS-EES that provides a multifaceted qualification program resulting in a certified graduation. Events of the EES Academy are open to external participants from Germany and abroad.

SiMET – Simulation of mechanical-electrical-thermal processes in lithium-ion batteries.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is funding the Research Training Group „SiMET – Simulation of mechanical-electrical-thermal processes in lithium-ion batteries“ (GRK 2218) at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) in collaboration with Offenburg University of Applied Sciences and the Helmholtz Institute Ulm. Doctoral researchers from various disciplines jointly research and develop cross-scale and multidisciplinary models and simulation methods for lithium-ion batteries.
